A good chat app, with a lot of promise
I'll give this 5 tacos because of how good it is, despite some of its faults, mostly because I see how good it could become. JivoChat has the opportunity to become a real powerhouse in the web chat market.
Here's what I'm looking for in a chat program:
- A good, clean interface both for the user and the owner.
- Useful and usable mobile apps - I cannot be at my computer all day.
- Omnichannel (specifically: Web Chat, FB Messenger, Email)
- Support that is actually there to support you.
- Reasonable value for money.
I've tried a LOT of chat apps for my site:
Tawk.to, Tidio, LiveChat, Intercom, Front, Rake, and now Jivochat. I'm probably forgetting a few.
I'm going to ignore Tawk, because it just didn't meet my needs right off.
Tidio - excellent chat tool, excellent mobile apps, great support, but crap templates when responding to emails and no way to alter them.
LiveChat - excellent chat tool, really nice email templates for responding on that channel, really good support team, no way to reply to emails from the mobile apps (it's "planned" apparently, but for $30+/mo/agent it should really be in there), and no operating hours unless you're shelling out $50/mo/agent.
Intercom - often considered to be a gold standard and used by many companies. Their support is great when they respond - but sometimes that can take days (less than helpful if your issue is immediate). Their mobile app is solid, but the lack of Desktop apps is frustrating. Their email replies, however, are really nice. Considering their startup price is $65/mo, and the next plan that would work for me is $115/mo after the startup price expires, I'd really have expected more responsive support and desktop apps.
Front's own chat widget is okay; it's not meant to be a standalone chat app, but rather a system to bring together other tools. I'll just leave it at that.
Rake is another Appsumo LTD I bought, and shows a lot of promise, but it has quite a way to go too. They've done a lot, and aspire to do an insane amount, so I'm really interested to see how it matures over time!
JivoChat... that's what we're here to talk about, isn't it? It's a mature product that still needs some UX polish, but it's nice. The chat features are excellent, the mobile app is solid, and you can do email from the app - woo! But...
- Emails: Replies to emails to clients appear in this format:
From: Company Name <notifications@jivo-mail.com>
The Message you wrote
-----
Chat history:
- Any previous messages will show up here, even if they've all been conducted via email
---------------------------
Now, I can forgive the jivo-mail email... I don't want to, but I can. There should really be a way to add your domain for sending via Jivochat, but I'll move past it.
The chat history, though, is only useful when the conversation was initially a chat and THEN became an email. Recapping every email sent at the bottom of each is weird. This should be a toggle-able option, but it's not. Sad face.
