Q: drive storage
How can I view the files stored on my Google Drive using Journal It? Is it possible to create a Journal It folder or project on a private cloud and set it as the default location for the app to save all the data, for instance, on my NAS?

Edited Apr 27, 2026A: Hi,
Viewing Google Drive files: Unfortunately, you can't browse them in your Google Drive directly. When Journal it! uploads your photos and file attachments, they go into a hidden app-only area of your Drive (the appDataFolder, accessed via the narrow drive.appdata permission). This area doesn't show up at drive.google.com and can't be browsed, downloaded, or managed there — it's accessible only through the Journal it! app itself. This is intentional, so the app can't see or touch any of your other Drive files.
Also worth noting: only photos and file attachments live in Drive. Your text data (journal entries, tasks, habits, notes, etc.) syncs through Journal it!'s own cloud, not Drive.
Private cloud / NAS: Not supported yet.
WebDAV (which would eventually allow NAS / Nextcloud / self-hosted setups) is planned.
If you want a local copy of everything, you can use Settings → Export to generate a ZIP containing all your journal data (with an option to include photos and files).
Hope that helps!
