Nothing is in a place that makes sense

“Do not use notes for journaling” where should I be journaling then? The shortcuts list cuts off the names so you can’t read them, and the icons don’t correspond to their contents. I can’t see events details because it’s too busy telling me the event was synced with Gcal. You know what else is synced with gcal? EVERYTHING. All day events have priority over timed event. Have to go Into the event details to check it off so it will collapse so I can see anything important. Best yet, I moved an event on Sunday but here it is Wednesday and it hasn't updated. It’s so excited to have me set up new trackers that I can’t access the ones I’ve already set up.

The contrast in dark mode is absolutely abysmal, and same with anything that’s color-coded—it’s a slightly lighter color on a darker color, cant see a thing.

I set up tasks within a project within a goal within an organizer but you know what I can’t do? SEE THE TASKS I need to be working on. “Oh use calendar entries and reminders” well the reminders are calendar entries, and I’m trying to get my to do list OUT of my calendar. Why should I have my to do list in 10+ places? Just, give me a to do list and a filter option.

Oh and you can’t join the facebook group for community support until you’ve used it every day for 3 weeks. This just in, I’ve used it and still cannot for the life of me actually use it. Which is why I need community support. But no.

And ftr, yes I watched all the videos 3+ times each. I turned the newbie guide back on twice.

“Activities” have samples like “deep work blocks” and “weekly planning.” Why are they separate from time blocks? No idea. I can add tasks to a time block but what if I don’t finish them? No idea, they’re just gone.

The whole idea was to have everything connected in a helpful, logical way. This is… the complete opposite of that.

You can use entries for journaling; notes are for information and knowledge.

You can customize calendars so they land on a custom block you specify. And it's recommended to only sync calendars with real events; otherwise it will easily mess up the planner.

Is there anything special about that event? Can you give steps to reproduce?

Why can't you access existing trackers?

Thanks for the...

Great for productivity nerds who want an all-in-one tool

This is an amazing product if you are a productivity nerd, want an all-in-one productivity system, and you don't mind spending some time setting everything up. It replaces a bunch of other apps for me and does more than the sum of its parts.

Like many complex systems, it's not the easiest/fastest to set up. It took me two weeks or so to have it the way I want it to be.

Thus, it's not the best fit for you if you only need a single, simple tool (such as a book tracker, or a meditation tracker). There are easier options for that out there.

But if you want everything in one place? Go get this!

Where are the extra 🌮s? Well-crafted, mature application that serves a specific need exceptionally well.

After years of bouncing between productivity apps, I always came back to Amazing Marvin as my daily driver. As great as it is, it still left gaps in my workflows. Journal it! has become the perfect complement, bringing those missing pieces into one clean, integrated system across web and mobile.

What I love most is how it connects daily entries and highlights to bigger-picture goals. Goals don’t feel static here. Journal it! makes it easy to track progress over time, define custom KPIs, and set-up reviews (monthly, quarterly, yearly) to stay aligned with long-term objectives. This is so key for solving the classic “write it down and never revisit it” problem I struggle with.

The journaling experience is excellent: simple, clean UI, seamless sync between devices, and a design that feels truly individual-focused.

The mobile app especially stands out. It’s fully functional and thoughtfully built for touch, not a stripped-down companion.

As others have already mentioned, there is a steep learning curve. It's not an app you will master in one afternoon, and I think that's by design. The feature depth is impressive, but it can feel overwhelming at first, and the documentation takes effort to digest. That said, it is flexible enough use only the features you need.

What worked for me was starting with journaling for a few weeks and gradually layering in other features. That approach has naturally woven itself into my daily routine in a way that feels effortless rather than forced.

It's not going to be that for everyone, but if you want powerful journaling + goal/KPI tracking with a strong mobile experience, it’s an excellent investment.

Journal it! is a mature, powerful product that clearly reflects a lot of thoughtful development. Of course there are features I’d like to see, but I’m happy to stay open-minded and let the product further evolve in time.

Thanks for this amazing deal!

Klarer Kauf.

Personal time management, diaries, notes, organization and other life-related activities on steroids

Hi Hai. I'm amazed at how sophisticated the app you've created is. It's basically "any current app" for time management, diaries, notes, organization and other life-related activities that have appeared on the market", but on steroids. All in one. I took a long time to thoroughly explore and understand all parts of the app. It's really bombastic. The learning curve is a bit more demanding, but it's worth it. Accept my admiration for coming up with this app and getting it up and running. How did I test the app to learn it?
I mainly went through the "written" tutorials. Calmly - to understand the principle and connection of the individual parts.
1. First, I mapped my life and basic activities
2. I named several basic areas that my life concerns (organizer).
3. I divided the individual activities between recurring tasks, habits, goals.
4. Connected Google Calendar
5. Created a tag structure in the form of Area & Life Organization and assigned it to some aspects of my life.
(I'm only testing the app for now, but I am completely amazed.)

It is a complete life ecosystem to help with a lot of workload in a large number of diverse tasks at work and in my personal life - I take care of several non-profit religious organizations and am overwhelmed with a lot of tasks. It is also necessary to have basic order in my personal life. This application helps to set a basic overview and order in repetitive activities and in the jungle of one-time tasks connected to various areas of activity.

I have a few questions:
I use Czech and the PDF output has some parts in English - the names of days and months (diary export) e.g. Mon. Apr 20. In Czech it should be: Pon. 20 Dub.

Page - in Czech it should be: Stránka.

In the web application, the English names in the side menu are not translated: tasks, goals, .... and various notes in the application (e.g. No task in active ... - all in English. Although I understand these terms, the application could be "polished" for international professional use - although is for personal use.

I am currently trying to easily connect Journalit to the Nextstep application (also on appsumo). Nextstep solves team collaboration on joint projects while involving automation and repetitive processes. In Journalit, I just need to create a project or task and assign it current basic status metrics and connect it via url to the project in the NextStep application, where I can check the team's activity. The best would be to connect to the API to automate changes. Then it would be perfect :-)

Thank you again for offering a great application on appsumo!

Glad you enjoy it and thanks a lot for the review!

I assume that the PDF was exported in the web version too. Thanks for reporting, I'll look into it soon.

Will look into the posibility of API connections.
