Good value, but quality not as good as other solutions

It's difficult to get a true sense of the quality of images on JumpStory before you actually have an account as they don't have much on display. But there's a free 30 day trial, and of course if you buy on AppSumo then you've got a couple of months to test in full before the refund window expires.

$99 is a cheap price for lifetime stock access so realisitically I wasn't expecting the quality to be as good as some other stock providers out there (most of which I've had an account with at some point or another). Having said that I was disappointed to see on my first search that I was seeing results that had horrible photoshopped borders and/or photographer signatures/watermarks on them (e.g. images that appear at the top of Animals category). This renders those images unusable really. I'd recommend that JumpStory simply not accept images that have borders or watermarks. It only detracts from the sense of quality of the overall portfolio.

Also many of the images are simply not at a pro level of quality - some of the images literally look like holiday or travel snaps. And the resolution of the images is generally a lot lower than you will find on other stock sites. They're ok for web use or small print use, but don't get this on the basis of being able to use these images for larger print work.

However, even with that in mind, this is still definitely worth $99 for lifetime access. You'll need to hunt around a bit to find images that are of sufficient quality for pro use, but it's good value for the amount of images and the ongoing access. And maybe their quality control will improve over time. It doesn't currently feel as though it's worth $25 a month which is the regular non-LTD price. Grab it while you can!

Dear James,

Thanks a lot for the great feedback. It sounds to me like more than 3 tacos? :-)

Anyway to your relevant feedback:

1. The quality of images. Most of our visuals are +5 megabyte, so resolution is actually pretty high.

2. You're totally right about the "not stock looking photos". We prioritize them. Most users hate stock photo looking like images. The future is all about authenticity, so it's totally on purpose. Some will love it. Others not.

3. Great feedback with the watermarks and borders. We will fix this asap.

Thanks again for valuable feedback!

Kind regards,

Jonathan
Co-founder of JumpStory.
