I’m honestly quite impressed with Kan.
I come from a background where I’ve worked a lot with Jira, I also know dart.ai (which used to be my secret favorite), and I’ve even built my own boards in Miro. Those custom boards were actually what I liked most—simple, visual, with a lot of control, almost like working with Post-it notes on a wall.
But at some point, you start missing the basics, like proper prioritization or assigning tasks cleanly.
That’s exactly where Kan hits a really great sweet spot for me right now.
The interface is super clean, the visualization just feels “right,” and the overall user experience is very pleasant. It’s not overloaded, but still includes exactly the features you actually need in day-to-day work. I’ve rarely seen a tool manage to balance simplicity and functionality this well.
I also tried Deck with Nextcloud—it was okay, but I never really felt like everything was fully thought through, and on top of that, I had to manage Nextcloud myself. With Kan, you can clearly tell that someone really put thought into which features matter and how to present them in a way that stays intuitive and visually appealing.
For me, it’s exactly the right tool at the moment—minimalist, but not too minimalistic—and it even has some really cool ideas on the roadmap. Really great.
