Q: Marketplace fees?

What is the fees breakdown for the marketplace (ultimately, taking both sides into account)?

I’m sort of inclined to thinking charging a subscription + middleman fees for the marketplace is double dipping. Though you do have a free tier.

Usually for marketplaces that charge a subscription, they do not charge middleman fees (allowing direct payment to freelancers). Or if they do charge ongoing middleman fees, the benefits of their platform are provided as part of the value add for those ongoing fees. Like upwork doesn’t charge for their time tracker, chat and file storage for example.

20GB storage is fairly slim (T4), especially if using 4K. Just one 4K project using the maximum duration limit would use all, or almost all of that limit.

With 1 workspace, is it still possible to effectively handle a few different brands well?

Thanks!

A: Hi Misty,

Thanks for asking another great question! Hopefully the responses below can help!

Marketplace Fees Breakdown:
On our platform, we charge a 10% fee on the seller side and a 4.4% + $0.40 fee on the buyer side, which comes from our payment provider. This fee not only covers transaction processing but also supports dispute management, which benefits both buyers and sellers by ensuring a secure and fair marketplace experience.

Additionally, these fees help cover marketplace customer support, marketing expenses to grow the marketplace, and other operational costs that enable us to provide a high-quality, seamless experience for all users.

Compared to platforms like Fiverr or Upwork, our fees are significantly lower, helping freelancers keep more of what they earn while providing buyers with a cost-effective way to collaborate with top talent.

Managing Multiple Brands:
When working with someone in the marketplace, you’ll be invited into their workspace while the job is active, and you’ll leave once the project is complete. This setup ensures smooth collaboration for individual projects and makes it easier to manage work across multiple brands.

Additionally, we’re actively developing the ability to support multiple workspaces per user. It’s about 70% complete, but we haven’t released it yet. We know how important this feature is for managing separate brands, and we’re committed to rolling it out in the future to enhance the experience further.

Storage Limits:
We recognize that storage limits like the 20GB on T4 may not always align with the needs of users working on larger 4K projects. We’re currently reviewing and updating our pricing and plan structures, and this is one of the areas we’re actively working on improving. We hope to announce updates on our plans soon to better accommodate creators working with higher-resolution content.

Why the Fees + Subscription Model?
The subscription fees power our core functionalities whille marketplace fees, on the other hand, specifically cover transaction security, dispute management, marketplace customer support, marketing expenses, and other operational costs. This structure allows us to provide a robust, all-in-one platform while keeping costs lower than many competitors.

If you have more questions or suggestions, feel free to share! Your feedback plays a huge role in shaping how we evolve, and we’re grateful for your input.

can you say how many workspaces each tier will likely get ?

Each tier will get 1 Workspace but the number of users will vary based on the tier.

Tier 1: 1
Tier 2: 4
Tier 3: 10
Tier 4: 20

Hope this helps!

You mentioned multiple workspaces per user hence the question how many multiple workspaces per tier ? Or have I misunderstood, thanks

The platform will be able to have multiple workspaces. I should have said that those workspaces will be per account. The idea is to support agencies in the future. However, we are not working on that as there are a lot of other things to fix, ehnance, etc. I wish that I could provide you with an answer of how many workspaces we can inlcude or will include, but it could entirely change.
