Worth it for SEO value alone

I’m focusing on the SEO/KW discovery components of KWHero in this review—will update with more on AI when I’ve tried it fully (if that’s allowed, this is my first review.)

I’ve worked in SEO and publishing at both the enterprise and niche-site level for a long time, so I’ve used nearly every tool out there for KW discovery. And there’s a lot to like with KWHero. For me, it’s well worth this asking price before even getting to the AI components.

Whether purposefully or not, they’ve used a lot of the same design and functional elements as KWFinder by Mangools. And, for me, that’s a very good thing. The UX is simple, but deep. It’s just easy to parse the data quickly, just by scanning the left column. Then go deep if you want to via the SERP detail. The topline data on trends, ease to rank, and profitability are of course very easy to use. The UX is by far the simplest way I’ve experienced handling keyword discovery at scale.

The fact that I can get this UX and detail at a lifetime price is a killer deal just for the KW data alone. I spend $400/year on KWFinder and all it does is keywords. Granted, KWFinder also goes down to local data (like city and county) and KWHero does not. This is national or global data only as of this writing. That’s good enough for most sites, but if you’re looking to do local SEO, KWHero currently does not provide it (but, to be fair, a other of enterprise keyword solutions don’t either.)

A few suggestions to the devs since I’m writing:

1. The Trends chart needs a frame of reference. You can see seasonality from just the bars, but detail on a pop-up (or at the sides of the column to give a sense of totals) would be a huge help.
2. Lists. You can add keywords to a content plan by selecting them (great), but there’s no way to save keywords currently to a list for future consideration. Having an interim location where you can save keyword ideas before hitting the content plan would be a strong workflow addition IMO.
