This is something that saddens me to say as I really had hopes for the project. I bought tier 5 and based on the quality of the audio on the homepage of their website (which I later found out was them cloning and perfecting and nothing close to that quality is available).

I just tried it for the first time in 4-5 months and it sounds worse than I remember. It is pure robotic now. The discord is dead and no real responses from the team/Juan.

If this comes back I would be VERY careful on getting it until they put time into it. They don't even share an updated roadmap anymore.

Sad for a project that had a lot of potential.

LaunchPod AI has potential, but it feels like it’s already trailing behind the competition. When you compare it to Google’s recent advancements in conversational AI, the voice quality and the fluidity of discussions generated by LaunchPod AI simply don’t measure up. It’s like comparing elementary school to university-level learning.

The overall quality of the AI speech leaves much to be desired. I’ve noticed some strange halting patterns, major mispronunciations, garbled speech, and even cut-off words. While the support team is always willing to reissue credits when you bring these issues to their attention, it’s frustrating to spend so much time jumping through hoops when all you want is a seamless experience.

What I believe is missing from this product are a few essential features:

Preview Before Final Rendering: This would allow users to fix issues before using up their precious credits.
Vocabulary Editor: A tool to help manage and correct pronunciation issues would save a lot of headaches.
Additionally, the user interface is quite buggy. I’ve experienced moments when the AI voice rendering engine gets stuck, leading to hours of waiting for support to respond and fix the issue. Sometimes, after it claims your voice track is “complete,” nothing appears, and you’re left refreshing the screen repeatedly just to see the audio. The interface is slow to begin with, making this even more frustrating.

The editor also needs to be a bit smarter. For example, the ability to easily insert additional audio, like from guest speakers, would be a fantastic improvement.

In summary, LaunchPod AI is a nifty concept with a lot of promise, but right now, it feels more like a "barely beta" product rather than a polished tool ready for everyday use. The numerous issues prevent it from being a staple in anyone’s toolkit in its current form.

If the actual solution worked as well as the product’s premise, this would definitely be a 5-taco deal. However, due to the poor AI voice quality and the competitive landscape that has raised the bar dramatically, this product has a lot of catching up to do, along with addressing some glaring challenges.

I genuinely hope the team finds success and returns to AppSumo with a new offer for this product that hopefully exceeds expectations at that time!

I love the realistic voices and scriptwriting abilities. A+

When I first tried this about a month ago I wasn't very impressed, the app repeated some words and didn't sound all that great. Plus there was a pretty small word count limit.

I just tried again today as I heard the audiobook feature was released. This is significantly better than it was the first time I tried the app. I copy and pasted 1430 words into the audio book portion and selected the pre made voice that sounded the least robotic. I don't recall any repeated words, the inflections are mostly right but not quite there yet. Some parts still sound a little robotic. If I were to compare this to eleven labs I would say this is about 70% of the way there....at least for the best default voice I tried.

With this being a new product I don't expect perfection right now, and with the audiobook portion I'm pretty happy with the direction this is going(this is actually about the level I was hoping for at launch).

Lets put it this way, a good narrator will beat this right now, but a good narrator would also beat eleven labs.

I've turned off audio books before because I thought the narrator was really bad. If LaunchPod was used on those few books I gave up on after 10 minutes, I would likely have continued on with the book.

In summary, this is better than bad human narration. An average narrator is still going to beat this. It's likely you or I would do a better job than Launchpod if we read lines multiple times and got rid of all of our stumbles, but that's going to take a lot longer than copying and pasting text into this.

So with that said I'm going to give it 4 out of 5 since I've seen meaningful progress in the past month.

To the developers, keep up the good work.

The feature for creating outlines with multiple creators is certainly a strong point, offering great creative potential. However, I've encountered issues with the voice cloning feature, as I haven't been able to replicate my own voice accurately. There's room for improvement, especially in multilingual voice cloning, which currently falls short of expectations. Additionally, the music library is somewhat limited. I hope the roadmap is followed closely, and I wish for the success of Launchpod.
