Q: SMTP connection failed.

Hi Kevin! I purchased the highest code tier and my emails (and domains) are hosted on Siteground.

I've tried connecting one of them and I have double and triple checked all the settings but I keep getting the error "SMTP connection failed."

I event went and hooked it up with my apple mail (iMail) to check if it's a server problem but it works fine.

Can you help me fix this?

Note: The pop-up that comes up says "Error sending mail: "SMTP connect() failed. https:\/\/github.com\/PHPMailer\/PHPMailer\/wiki\/Troubleshooting"

Also, is there a more efficient/private way to request support? I looked around briefly on the app and could only find a knowledge base. Maybe I am missing it, as I said I briefly looked around so would appreciate some direction on that.

Thank you so much!

A: Hello there! Uh oh. Usually this is due to a mismatched TLS certificate between the domain being used and the actual mail server hostname. It's a security setting. Desktop mail clients aren't typically bothered by this, as they're less likely be spoofed. We can dig into the logs to figure this out for certain though. Can you send these details with your username to help@leadfwd.com? Cheers, Kevin

Thanks for the prompt response. Email sent, hope we can resolve this promptly. I've checked the logs and it seems siteground has a concern about "unsolicited bulk emails" I assume it's in the authentication request being sent as the max number of emails in the query is quite high? But I am no expert it's just an assumption

Received and responded! Nah you can ignore that, most mail server handshakes will issue that warning no matter what. But as expected, it was the TLS mismatch. Quick fix :)
