Video then only options are Youtube/Vimeo or Learynst hosted videos.
If one needs to embed a video then we need to select content type as article, which is confusing from a student's point of view.
Are there any plans to allow embedding videos as video content type ?

Yes, 90% of Appsumo users would most likely be using some other video hosting service.
A few examples are Alugha (for multi-lingual audio), BunnyCDN, Hippo Video, AWS S3/CDN, VadooTv etc. A simple solution would be to allow iFrame embeds of the native video player provided by these platforms.
