As an MSP, our licenses are a mess compared to our clients' licenses we manage. What a surprise!
I kind of went off the rails typing a response to a feedback request to manage license keys on here too so decided to turn it into a review on AppSumo as well!
This would enter the world of password or license management or software like a PSA with deployment tool (i.e. Liongard on top of Datto AutoTask).
Just joined from AppSumo! We're a company, an MSP (well, I estimate 60% of our work goes into 'MSP department'), in which we are outsourced (local) IT/management of SMB's and we bundle and resell software from our CSP's like Pax8 and IngramMicro Cloud. A big portion of what we do is selling, managing, and billing clients for licenses they need from Adobe to Zoom and now that cloud has become king, as on-premises servers and one-time app purchases are on the way out - and monthly recurring licenses - or revenue to us - aka MRR has become so important (especially to us). Their recurring software also includes important stuff like security stack, backups, Microsoft or Google Workspace as core framework -- we sell and manage a lot of various licenses for clients and one of the biggest 'money thrown away' is licenses that go unused - we have honestly perfected this to nearly 95% automated as keeping these all accurate because it's OUR loss if we over license or under-bill as clients don't pay directly, they pay through us as we pay in bulk via CSPs and usually get 5-15% (MS/Google) to 50%+ (AV/BCDR/VoIP/etc.) below consumer MSRP - this is all via CSP/channel partner relations, I would not recommend setting up at a CSP just for your own company. Thankfully with MS 365 or Google Workspace, and enforcing SSO, it's become way better, but the world of license management - especially at companies that don't have tech-savvy internal users/owners - is quite the mess until we help organize it. This app would become quite the monstrous project if it started going down the route of managing deployment, licenses, keys, AND spend. I would honestly be amazed if y'all did, one of the reasons why we got this. Oh, but the main reason... while we manage our clients to a T... OUR LICENSE MANAGEMENT IS TERRIBLE. Like this helped us save over $300 on upcoming renewals that we'd have to hassle with refunds or outright forgot about.
Sadly no MS365, we used to use Google Workspace so I did login (still having an account to do some automations with our web hosting business) it would be an awesome feature to add Microsoft 365 - Graph or related connections. Also Quickbooks Online? Either way - this is quite a feat y'all have taken on, but I am a huge fan of the UI, and the amount of apps I forgot about because going through all our credit/debit/banks is a huge feat has been actually astounding as we test so many (wink wink appsumo that spend was a little... daunting but I think there's a bug that doesn't count refunds) - I have found this to be worthy just in getting accurate spend per app! Looking forward to seeing how this grows :)
