Much room to improve
Pro(s):
I edit all my documents on Google Docs and noticed that their built-in spelling/grammar checker will catch mistakes that are missed by Linguix, and Linguix will catch issues that are missed by Google Docs, so the two checkers complement each other quite well.
I've chosen to replace Grammarly after picking up Linguix, because I noticed that Google Docs' checker becomes hidden/disabled when Grammarly is active.
The extra license codes are also great value and a huge plus. I don't often get to share my AppSumo purchases with friends or family.
Cons:
I wish there was a way to close/ignore suggestions of the same type in a single click. For example, Linguix keeps on flagging Japanese names and nouns as spelling mistakes, and I have to click ignore on each flag manually. The same applies with word repetition mistakes and spurious comma mistakes, which are both mandatory paragraph formatting and date styles in my document.
This can amount up to 40+ false positives in a moderately short document, which takes a lot of unnecessary clicks to ignore. And you would have to repeat the whole process again if you have to go back and edit the same document the next day.
Of course, this functionality needs to be implemented carefully with fine-grained controls, so we don't accidentally disable suggestions for legitimate mistakes.

May 9, 2024Hey, thanks for the honest review. For the Japanese names, you can add them to your dictionary, not just click dismiss once. After that these names will not be flagged. Also, the extension's settings tab allows disabling certain types of checks like punctuation or typography.
