Promising but needs work

Linguix shows promise, but the product is still some way off from being truly useful and valuable. It's missing some pretty basic features, which makes it slightly annoying to use.

For instance, I wanted to upload a Word document... only to discover you can't. You need to open the document on your computer and then copy & paste the text into a new file that you create on Linguix' web app. Or you have to install the browser extension and open the document in Google Docs.

When I ran two documents through it, there was what seemed like a weird bug. Under the 'false friends' section, Linguix suggested to replace a perfectly normal English word with a Polish word. And it did the same for another, equally normal word, only this time it suggested a Dutch word.

FYI, I had set my native language as English in the app and I was writing in English. So why it would come up with words from two different languages is beyond me.

I ran the exact same two documents through Grammarly as well (which was much easier, since I could simply upload the files). Grammarly found more real errors than Linguix, although it did miss one or two that Linguix spotted.

Linguix could only check part of the first file (60,000 characters) whereas Grammarly had no such issue.

So I guess I'll be using both for a while.

I do prefer Linguix' user interface though.

As I said, this looks promising and I'd like Linguix to succeed. But they've got work to do.
