I'm surprised to see Lovo on AppSumo. I took it for a spin about a year ago and what I noticed right away that Lovo was different. Lovo doesn't rely on the voices you typically find in TTS programs which are commonly sourced from Google WaveNet or Amason's TTS programs. Lovo developed its own voices and many of them sound incredible.

Now, I don't want to oversell. Nothing beats a human. But if I were to rate most TTS programs, I would put many in the 4-5 range and Lovo at 7-8 (for a good chunk of its voices). You do get some duds in there, but many are incredible.

What else? Well, what else do you need with a TTS program? The interface isn't much to write home about. I can upload your script, select a voice skin, and download the output. Lovo has features for saving a project and stuff like that, but the interface is very bare-bones. Does that matter? Not to me.

As I mentioned at the start of this review, I did take it for a spin about a year ago. Based on my memory (which isn't very good) it doesn't look like much has changed under the hood. I think they might have added some minor stuff here or there (or maybe some new voices), but it's hard to tell. So seeing a roadmap and learning about their future plans would be great.

Conclusion? If you do anything with TTS, then you owe it to yourself to check out Lovo. It's a must-buy for me.
