If you need something quickly and don't need a high quality video, this works fine. It would be insulting to your audience to make this part of your normal content strategy though. The videos Lumen5 makes are just not that great and don't think for a second you won't need that video contractor ever again.

I will say that the speed of this app is very impressive. The interface is very well done and intuitive. The visual pairing of your content with photos and clips is pretty neat, but there's just some things that humans are better at (for now).

My main gripe is the app chooses what bits of text belong in your video. This can result in some awkward context. So for one, I'd like the option to use their auto select feature OR include all of the text in my content. Then leave it up to me to decide what could get pulled out to make the video shorter or more palatable. Yes, you can generate the automatic video and then add the bits of text you think should have been left in, but that brings me to my second gripe: when you select text to be added, Lumen5 adds it TO THE END of your video. Bringing it back up the timeline of your vid requires a lot of clunky dragging or a ridiculous number of clicks, depending on the length of your video.

What would make Lumen5 truly spectacular is a high quality text-to-voice option so the videos could be narrated.

As for this deal, it should have been either Lifetime or allowed you Premium access for a year. I promise you I won't have given Lumen5 another thought after my year is up.
