Q: CNAME Registration Restriction
Hello, I am humbly requesting reconsideration of your one-time use CNAME registration policy. LunaCal is the only product I have purchased from Appsumo with this restriction; as a solopreneur running an agency-model business, it is of the highest importance that I do not lose access to a CNAME slot after offboarding a client, especially considering that once your Appsumo campaign is completed, it will not be possible to purchase additional [One-Time Use] CNAME slots.
Tier 3 allows for management of up to 20 companies, but only includes 2 CNAME registrations (one for me, one for a single client?) Paying $319 for your product and then an additional $507 to buy 13 more CNAME registrations seems like an incredibly ludicrous price tag to then signal that you do not trust your end users to be capable of managing CNAME registration on their own

Aug 19, 2025A: Hey,
- I get your point but, it'd be unsustainable to me to allow unlimited changes to CNAME. As you'd have seen, we keep releasing new features every other week making almost everything available to all users. There are only a few places where we add limits, this being one of them
- It's important to note that even without CNAME you can still have 20 companies in you plan and you'd have the option to change these companies anytime. In fact almost all other scheduling tools (including calendly) do not allow CNAME at all. So, CNAME does not restrict your ability to have more clients use the product.
- I wouldn't recommend buying so many client-specific CNAMEs unless you're charging heavy premium from them. Bookers are used to links without custom-domain since most companies do not provide them (eg. calendly, calcom, etc.)
- That being said, in one-off cases, you can reach out to us, and we'll replace it for you.
Could you please explain in which manner editing, deleting, or adding a DNS record to my domain registrar is unsustainable for LunaCal. I'd legitimately like to understand the finances behind that logic
So what happens if we change or update our business website name ? You guys need to allow us to change our CNAME. Won’t be buying for that reason alone.
Hey, we accommodate all these one-off cases like changing website etc. There's a risk of abuse around reselling that made us come up with this rule. We wouldn't want genuine users to be impacted so we're allowing a lot of exceptions. Users can reach out for legitimate cases
CNAME would ideally be a field editable anytime. Future monthly pay users will ultimately need this too. Alternatively offer a one-time fee to change if a big financial challenge. Flexibility is key.
This is a showstopper for me. The response makes absolutely no sense. How can a cname cost you money? Please explain
guys anyone reading this please UPVOTE HELPFUL? so more people can understand the fineprint on this deal. I'm not sure most people realize this bizarre stipulation in the fineprint about CNAME. Definitely not a normal expected thing for a SaaS.
