What is this?

Basically we can take an image (either via URL or file upload), and give you back alt text to use on your site with that image.

What is alt text?

Alt text is a text description of a website image that’s included in the html. It’s parsed by search engines to help understand and rank your page/site (think SEO!), and also read by software for visually impaired folks (think web accessibility) so they can navigate and understand your web pages.

Why did we create this?

Writing alt text for website images has traditionally been a tedious and time-consuming process…something a human had to do manually. I’ve always worked at places that had issues with missing alt text, people forgetting to include it, or some sort of formulaic writing solution that never worked well. All of this resulted in less-than-optimal SEO along with lawsuit trolls hitting us with accessibility compliance threats.

What are we trying to do with AltText.ai?

We think alt text should just *work* – like you shouldn't need to remember to do it, and it shows up magically for your site images.

AltText.ai is designed to be integrated into whatever platform/tech you use. We have plugins/apps for WordPress, Shopify, Contentful, and Hygraph, along with a REST API and even a web UI.

If you are constantly adding images to your site, our integrations are designed to automatically add alt text as part of your process.

If you want to get alt text for all your existing images, we support bulk operations and CSV uploads.
