What are past projects, failures, or successes you’ve had in your career?
Before starting SiteGuru, I spent years working as both an SEO consultant and a developer. That mix gave me a front-row seat to both sides of the SEO world: the strategy and analysis, and the messy implementation.
I’ve worked with clients ranging from small businesses to large websites, and I kept running into the same problem: SEO tools were either overly technical, painfully slow, or tried to do everything, except actually help you decide what to do next. I’d spend hours digging through crawls, exporting spreadsheets, and manually piecing together reports for clients. It was frustrating and time-consuming.
With my development background and deep SEO experience, I built the first version of SiteGuru to help me work faster and smarter. It started as a tool just for me—but other consultants and marketers started using it, and it grew from there.
What 3rd party tools is your product critically dependent on?
SiteGuru gets a lot more useful when connecting it to Google Search Console, but without it, users can still use all the audit-related features. We can scan any website.
Where is your customer data stored?
Ireland
How many customers do you have today?
4500 active users per month
What’s the origin of the idea for your product?
The idea for SiteGuru came straight from my own frustration. I’ve worked as both an SEO consultant and a developer, and I was constantly wasting hours digging through complex tools and messy spreadsheets just to figure out what was wrong with a site. Most SEO tools were built for experts or engineers, not for busy marketers who need clear priorities.
So I built SiteGuru to simplify all of that. It started as a tool to help with my own client work, but quickly grew into something much bigger. I’m passionate about it because I know how painful and inefficient SEO used to be, and I love seeing SiteGuru save people time while actually helping them grow their traffic.
What problem is your product solving and how?
We're helping people without deep SEO knowledge improve their rankings in search engines. Most SEO tools are very complex. SiteGuru focuses on ease of use and has invested a lot in a great user experience.
This paid off: we've been awarded various G2 and Capterra awards for ease of use and user friendliness.
What’s the #1 thing you’re looking to gain from the AppSumo campaign?
Continued growth both in terms of users and revenue, which will allow us to continue building more features for our users.
What are your plans with the customers, cash, and learnings from the AppSumo campaign?
We've been on Appsumo for years. We've received a huge amount of feedback and that's helped us further improve the tool. We've used the cash to hire a developer and a UX expert, and it's allowed me to work on SiteGuru full time.
Any details to clarify about the deal?
Every coupon gives the user 1 website with up to 500 pages. They can combine coupons. So a tier 4 coupon may be used on one site with 2000 pages, 2 sites with 1000 pages, or 4 sites with 500 pages. They can manage this themselves (splitting and merging coupons), with a minimum of 500 pages per slot.
Anything else you'd like to add?
Looking forward to this!
