Q: I tried to use a gmail account using SMTP.

When Mailivery tried to sign in onto the gmail account, the sign in got rejected. At the same time, there was an email from google in the inbox stating a "Critical security alert" and that a sign in attempt was blocked.

When I digged in , it looks like there is an option "Allow less secure apps" that needs to be enabled, which I did . And then Mailivery was able to sign in using the SMTP details.

The problem unfortunately is this : Gmail thinks mailivery is a less secure app. And this option to allow less secure apps will be disabled from 1 June 2022.

What is Mailivery planning to do about this?

A: Hi,

We will be migrating to O-auth to allow for easy seamless connection. This is part of onboarding redesign!

Cheers,

Roman
