Q: With the announcement on 7th Dec 2020 that Mailpoet has been acquired by WooCommerce I'd like to get clarification on the Appsumo deal.
On the FAQ it says:
13. I have an AppSumo Lifetime License; will it continue to work? Yes! You'll still have full access to MailPoet.
Does this mean lifetime access or not, as the wording is pretty vague?
I think a lot of people who bought a lifetime license in the recent BF sale that has just ended will be pretty interested to know the answer especially given the timing of this WooCom announcement.
I remember well what happened with WooThemes... my lifetime updates were gone because product life ended (all themes without updates = broken, useless). I hope Automattic doesn't try to push us into monthly/yearly plans for updates and such as they usually do. Hard pass from me just because of their past actions.
I saw the acquisition announcement, read some of the reviews of people running agencies and having their accounts suspended/blocked and decided to refund here before I even redeemed it to try.
I was going to set up a new client on this but the rework and potential hit on my professionalism (if their account randomly gets shut down for what sounds like really soft spam policies) is not worth it to me. I'd rather pay the monthly fee for something else I trust given under new ownership this LTD probably won't end up being honoured in the long run anyway (let's be honest...).
I'm sure they'll say "we have no plans to stop your LTD" but 'no plans' and 'will never' are two different things and I don't really want to live in the wild wild west to find out.
Without any written guarantee that often happens when the dust settles, sure hope it's not the case here but I've been burned before. For WooThemes they (Automattic) tried to give me some months of service for plugin bla bla in return for the $100 I paid for my lifetime themes. I didn't even use their "compensation". Be better this time, Automattic.
Q: I want to buy it anyone knows when its available again????
Dear, Welcome to AppSumo. Also, Before jumping into this, Please read question from emmalbrook's and NunoAlex's reply for the same. That will help you to decide much a way.
I'd like to use the features of mailpoet to send cold marketing emails. Can I do this if I use my own server? I have no need to use an external server like yours, but rather like the look of the software itself.
Also, can images be personalised? Like Lemlist personalisation (ie, an image, with a merge tag text field on top)
If you are going to send with your own sending method, then that's fine. Just be aware that your subscriber limit will be the same as your AppSumo plan. If you need to send to unlimited subscribers then you'll need to purchase a Premium license on our website.
I've played around with the system a bit, and it looks good to me, the only thing I was hoping you might have on your roadmap is free positioning for elements. I like to personalise images (Put a contact's name on a coffee-cup/whiteboard etc) much like they have available over at Lemlist. I've managed to use a background image for a row, and then put my element in a specific column within that row, but it's not perfect, and makes it a little difficult to get positioning just right. Another way to think of this feature is like the 'hotspots' feature you see on many page builders these days, for example: https://crocoblock.com/widgets/hotspots/ would be amazing if we could put a contact's name (Or other merge tag) in there. If this is on your roadmap, I'll likely buy another 3-4 codes.
Thanks in advance!
Q: Hi, Can I use the sending of my hosting service to send e-mails?
Yes, you can, but the number of subscribers you can have will be limited according to your AppSumo plan. If you need to send to unlimited subscribers with your own website/server you'll need to purchase a Premium plan on our website.
Q: Hi MailPoet,
I get to know about MailPoet through https://appsumo.
com/mailpoet-black-friday-2020/. I have a few questions about it.
1. It stated that the number of subscribers per account (10,000 subscribers per website) do you mean if I have 100 websites, each website can deliver 10,000 subscribers (Total 1mil) or each website can only deliver 100 subscribers (total 10k)?
2. Automation / Drip I saw Kim_MailPoet replied that we are only able to send welcome emails? What about after the welcome emails? Can we send a follow-up email? Any limitation for the number of automation/drip flow?
3. Unlimited websites Does this mean that I can add plugins to as many websites as I want? Example I have 100 websites, each of these websites will get the premium plugin of MailPoet?
1. It means that if you have 100 websites, each one of them will be able to send to 10,000 subscribers.
2. There's no limitation, but you can only set up a drip campaign using the Welcome Emails, so only new subscribers from that moment on will receive it. Unfortunately, it's not possible to set up a campaign using the Welcome Emails for users that are already subscribed, unless you ask them to subscribe to a new list which is associated with the Welcome Emails.
You can create standard newsletters and schedule them to be sent at any time you want. I hope it's clear.
3. Yes, that's correct. You can add MailPoet 3 Premium to as many websites as you want and activate our Sending Service on each one of them.
Yesterday I bought 2 codes and now that I see the features I'd like to get 2 more. If I purchase 2 more will they be added to my "stack" for a total of 20k subscribers?
Q: I see there are still people active from Mailpoet here.
Maybe someone can take a look at my mail? I'm still waiting for approval, but i explained my answer in the "survey questions" and do of course agree with terms of service. My id: 129016 as a very small user, i would like to test software and see if i gonna use it. My DNS settings aren't getting verified, but i have a feeling that this has to do with my pending approval. Customer service could be improved in this area.
Q: I didn't see any Q&A about how this license integrates with an existing account.
We are currently using the free less than 1,000 subscribers plan on our blog. If we purchase 2 codes under this deal, will it integrate with our existing MailPoet account? We have several lists, forms (several scattered throughout blog posts), and automated emails already created. We want to make sure we will not lose anything we've already created in our existing MailPoet account. Thanks!
Yes, you can redeem your AppSumo codes under your existing MailPoet account, they just won't be joined with the free plans you are already subscribed to.
A: We won't recommend you use that list, as it's almost sure most of these emails do not exist anymore. Important reading: https://www.mailpoet.com/blog/email-spam-how-to-be-a-nice-email-sender/

Q: From what I read, the newsletter (that is, the *message content* of the newsletter) cannot be multi-lingual ...
and can *sent* in only 1 language per list - please confirm.
Can the frontend interface (language strings) be translated (for example, via POEdit or WPML)? Or is this already available.
I understand that I can send out a bilingual message yet my concern is for the user interface; I'd like to confirm that MailPoet includes a language file for the frontend interface [even if message contents are multilingual].
Yes, MailPoet is translated into several languages and you can also translate your subscription forms into different languages. Related: https://kb.mailpoet.com/article/169-how-to-translate-the-plugin-to-your-language and https://kb.mailpoet.com/article/203-support-for-multilingual-plugins
