Q: Hi Malcare Team, thanks for listening to the feedback and offering the backup service!

I have some questions regarding BlogVault, hope you don't mind to answer:

1. Can we have a list of folders and files that BlogVault is going to backup?

2. Is BlogVault going to only backup the WP core files and folders (namely wp-admin, wp-content, wp-include, and their sub-folders)? What about folders not belong to WP installation but in the same hosting account, for example a /files/ folder alongside the WP folders?

3. Since the Test Restore feature will load a specific backup version of our WP site on your test server, is your test server running the same WP version that we are running on our site?

4. In terms of BlogVault's backup feature (not talking about Auto Restore, Test Restore & Staging), what's the difference if compare it to exporting the WP database into .sql file then rsync the whole WP site (together with the .sql file) to an offsite backup location?

5. How is BlogVault going to back WP database?

Looking forward to reading your reply.

Thanks!

Hello Sumo-Ling

Thanks for the questions. Pls find below my response.

1) We backup every aspect of your WordPress site including posts, pages, files, themes, images, etc. A WordPress site consists of 2 parts:

Database – We backup the complete database.
Files – We backup all the files within your core WordPress folders (wp-content, wp-
includes, and wp-admin).

The above process ensures that no part of your site is missed.

We backup all the files related to a WordPress installation, which includes the folders wp-content, wp-admin, and wp-includes. We also backup the files in the base directory, such as wp-config.php, index.php, wp-settings.php, etc.

The above folders cover every aspect of a WordPress installation including plugins, themes, uploads, images, videos, etc.

2) You can easily specify to include non-wp folders and files as well.

3) We replicate your entire site (including the same version) during test restore.

4) We do incremental backups which are automatic. This means that we put
very little load on your sites.

We can backup large sites consistently without errors. Any such
scripts/processes will fail with little alarm. We bring true peace of
mind when it comes to backups.

We also do differential restores. This speeds up the restore significantly.

5) BlogVault backs up the database using our plugin in small chunks. This
ensures that we can backup very large databases easily.

Hope this answers your question.
