Key phrase I missed: CURATED online courses

I read the deal, read many of the reviews, and dove in. Apparently, that wasn't enough for me to really understand the premise of Marble over other platforms, but I quickly understood once I was in the system and playing.

The good:
- Yes, you could create a sequence of lessons as a course in the promised 10 minutes.
- Ridiculously simple layout and interface.
- Bringing together content you've got hosted all over the web is what this platform does and it does it well.

The bad:
- Everything listed in "The good" could also be spun as the bad...mostly if you're coming into this with the wrong expectations.
- Seeing the way the deal listing and reviews gushed about how much better it was than other Learning Management Systems (LMSes), I had the expectation that it was an LMS rather than what it appears to be -- a simple curation system with a few LMS aspects (like marking a "lesson" as complete).

The ugly:
- The only user interaction I am seeing are multiple choice quiz questions. No commenting, no submitting artifacts for review, no peer-to-peer/social interactions at all. This isn't necessarily bad, it just chooses to focus on the consumption of curated, bite-sized chunks of content rather than other aspects of how we learn. If you want to include more of those other aspects, you'll need to run them in parallel with the content delivery in Marble and/or embed them into your Marble course.

I'm going to keep playing with it. Heck, I may even end up full-stacking it. (I have some partner projects that this may be perfect for.)

Just be aware, it may not be what you expect in terms of an edtech platform positioning itself against other LMS platforms. There is real potential here, you just need to go in with clear expectations of what Marble is and what it isn't.

I'm looking forward to seeing what new features they offer and I hope that they are willing to make the hard decisions to stick to their promise of simplicity that people can use well -- instead of becoming another complex LMS that people aren't using very well.

If your use-case falls in that vein, you'll be very happy with what Marble offers!
