A tool and deal with significant pros and cons

I’ve been using MM for around a week now. I trialed Frase and found its recommendations were rubbish. MM’s outputs are far more accurate and useful.

Many of the applications produce useful data.

I like Optimise as it can be used to optimise the keywords used in published and draft content based on the keyword distributions of thousands of pieces of ranking content. I like that it highlights all the keywords used, so you can see a sort of heat map of the keywords you’ve used in a piece of content. It includes limited information from the Compete application, however it’s missing the most important information from that application so running Optimise is not a substitute for running Compete. I find the feed isn’t useful. It just repeats what’s in the research section.

The Research application provides similar data to what’s on the research tab in Optimise.

The best part of the Compete application is that it shows a heat map of the key topics that should be used in a pice of content and which of the top pieces of content have mentioned that keyword. This is awesome for finding gaps so your content is more comprehensive.

Questions provides similar data to tools like Answer the Public, AnswerSocrates and AlsoAsked except that it collates the questions for several keywords instead of just a single one. This is handy.

Connect could be a really useful tool, however, I found it gives silly internal linking suggestions — possibly because my site isn’t huge. As a fee-for-service writer, I wish I could type in a client’s domain to use this for their content, not just my own. (This might be available in the future.)

Newsroom isn’t included in the deal or the trial so I can’t comment on that Application.

The content brief report is awesome. It basically combines everything from the Applications into one spot. It seems possible to use each Application to basically produce the same output, so a content brief saves time. I understand it’s possible to convert 10 queries into a credit to purchase this, which I feel is expensive. If manual effort were involved, I’d absolutely understand the increase in price. But give it’s all automated, I feel a credit should be equal to the queries used for each application (i.e. 5). Having said that, I, like other AppSumo users, also find it frustrating that running Optimise, Research and Compete on an identical topic costs 3 queries when they all rely on the same data and same scraping process. I’d like to see the heat map from Compete displayed on the compete tab of the Optimise application to remedy this.

The biggest con about this tool for me is that it takes a long time to accomplish anything. I wish I could get an email or (tablet) notification when each application has finished doing its thing.

I’d also like to be able to file snapshots in folders to make it easier to find my research at a later date as I’m often working on several pieces of content at once.

Thanks for taking time to leave the detailed feedback. It’s very much appreciated. I’ve passed your feedback onto our team. However, I encourage you to do the same, if you haven’t already. Just press on the “?” When you on the platform. It’s on the top right of the screen. That way you can track what’s happening with your request.

A couple of things to note:

Questions Application actually scores the questions by topical relevance and sorts them in descending order. So the most relevant questions are at the top.

Connect: We hear you and all the other Summolings! We’re actively working on addressing the domain issue. Stay tuned for more.

Queries that rely on the same data: Same thing here as with Connect.
