Writing app that can't share drafts with writers or reviewers??
Been on Appsumo for a while and I've purchased a lot of deals and software even outside Appsumo to have a fair comparison point.
Before I mention all the problems, I can agree that their technology is more likely than not to provide better results, but the platform itself has so many "streamlining" issues that it's almost like it doesn't understand how the workflow of a writer or business happens.
I think everyone in the comments has mentioned the SAME PROBLEMS SO MANY TIMES I'm just going to copy and paste a list from the other people, but I'm going to order them in terms of priority that needs to be fixed from MOST critical to LEAST critical for this deal to do well (in my opinion):
- Can't share the optimization tab with writers or others, which doesn't make any sense. I would imagine 99% of businesses have one person to write, and one person to review. If I can't share it to write or review, then this app is useless....
- Queries or drafts are not saved. I can't seem to work on multiple Optimization drafts at the same time, otherwise, this "Inventory" feature is not unlocked. Their website's plans allow for "500 inventories" but we get zero? Does that mean we can't hold drafts on the platform? If so, then why even allow us to stack codes to have even more queries? We can only work on one article at a time based on this workflow.
- Credits are limited and cost $100/credit. Honestly, if they changed this to "reoccurring 1 credit a month per code", it would probably solve all the complaints.
- Can't add domains, emails, or users. Deal feels like it becomes more limited the more you stack codes right now.
- No analytics
- 1 Credit currently runs Optimize, which Research and Compete on the right hand sidebar.... but if you click on the Research or Compete application on the left hand side bar, it'll charge you another query. Even though it all pools from the same data, you'll be likely charged 3 queries or 4 queries for the same topic you are researching. A better suggestion for them to solve this would be to just cut the credits down by half, and then use ONE credit to run all four applications. Their current crediting system seems very misleading.
I'm happy to change my review if features of the deal change, or the team points out that I've overlooked how to use MarketMuse's workflow.

May 9, 2024Hi MisterLi — thank you for your detailed review. We take feedback like yours very seriously as we continue to improve both the deal and our product.
I completely agree that the limitation on sharing the optimization tab, and the domain/user restrictions are frustrating for teams purchasing an AppSumo deal. Collaboration is important to us and this feedback is helpful as we aim to improve workflows.
I have good news on this front - we have a release in a couple of weeks that will allow for saved drafts! So now all queries, including the drafts in Optimize, will be saved so you can go back to them. This has been great feedback from our users and we’re excited to be able to make this happen. We will update the community when it is live.
You are right about the credits, but there’s a lot you can do without credits too. Here are a few example workflows https://docs.marketmuse.com/en/articles/96-simple-and-effective-workflows. There are a lot more details in our blog, but I don’t want to overwhelm with links. However, if there is a specific use case that you would like to dig into more, just message info@marketmuse.com and we will provide more thorough examples.
If you run a query in Optimize, clicking on the Research and Compete side bar should not use additional queries. If you are seeing that, please submit a ticket through the help desk in-app. I tried this myself and confirmed internally, but that should not be happening and I apologize if it did.
Thank you for trying out our platform and providing such valuable feedback. I hope that this information is helpful.
