My name is Ryan and I built ChromeExtensionKit. I’ve been building, publishing, and growing Chrome Extensions for over 5 years now. I originally decided to build the kit after spending countless hours setting up and configuring every new extension project I tackled; I figured there had to be an easier way. The goal of the kit is simple: to get you started with your Chrome Extension projects fast and with as little boilerplate and setup as possible. Chrome Extension development is an exciting space with lots of potential, so there shouldn’t be any major barriers to entry.

The kit comes with a series of starter templates for a wide variety of typical starting points, such as new tab extensions, popup extensions, and more. There are options for basic HTML/CSS/JS as well as React. In addition to the starters, there are also 3 fully functional example extensions that help provide inspiration and guidance (such as storage and permissions) as well as an ebook that helps you publish and grow your extensions.

===What level of experience is needed for this kit?

None! You can get value out of this get whether you're a total beginner making their first extension or a seasoned pro who wants to save time. It is recommended however that you have at least a bit of knowledge around HTML, CSS, and JS.

===What are the basic starter templates in the kit?

The 6 basic starter templates are: content scripts starter, browser action starter (full page), browser action starter (popup), browser action starter (popup and full page), new tab override starter, and Chrome API starter (Chrome sync storage).

===What are the React starter templates in the kit?

The 8 React starter templates are: browser action starter (popup and full page), browser action starter (popup), TypeScript browser action starter (popup), browser action starter (full page), new tab override starter, data fetching starter, Chrome storage starter (Chrome API), and a fully loaded React starter (React, React Router, and Tailwind CSS).

All React starters also come with scripts to spin up development environments as well as scripts to build and package your extension for publish.
