Q: Can you please explain these points in more detail - I dont know quite what you mean: 1.
Do you mean gaussian blur using some other tool or your tool?
"Can blur be reversed?
Simple blur (gaussian) is not safe and should only be used for stylistic purposes. I have created Blur+ mode that applies a distortion filter and makes blur irreversible."
2. If I blur out names of senders on a gmail page, and I go to the next page, (not reload) does it still blur the same area where the names are?
How is DataMask different from other blur extensions?
DataMask provides a truly secure Blur+ filter and is the only extension that can persist data masking after the website is reloaded. No other extension offers this.

May 14, 2024A: 1) Gaussian blur is unsafe in general and all tools using it are affected. There are articles describing how to use relatively simple math to make text readable again. DataMask Blur+ adds extra layers of distortion to make text irreversible.
2) DataMask can preserve masking after page reload/close/navigation on regular websites. Complex web applications like Gmail are more difficult to support, but could be investigated if there is enough demand from DataMask users.

How do you get it to preserve the blur?
I just tested it and then reloaded a page and it didn't keep the blur or the scramble
is it working?
You can get the changes to persist by changing the "Persist" toggle to on in the DataMask header. This is a Pro feature, so you will need Pro license. There are limitations of how well changes are persisted based on how complex website structure is.
You report websites where blur is not working to support@datamask.tech, but I will address it at best effort basis.
