Using it for One Year Now. Super Awesome TACOS for it!
Their timeline feature is amazing and has helped me keep my growing teams on track with every single project.
We sell over 11 SaaS we created, so something like this had the potential to be super useful. I can tell you after one year of using it, that it's an amazing deal and it's awesome to work with it.
I'm surprised there are so few reviews for this deal. For $29 this is a no brainer.
I use a variety of Project Management tools (some, like Smart Task, have nice gantt options) but my main team are used to Trello and as anyone who uses it knows, gantts aren't one of its strengths. I'm hoping this will allow me to integrate Gantts into my teams' Trello boards.
PROS: Gantt.io itself is really easy and enjoyable to use. After playing around with it I can alter the colours to keep it on brand and it is much quicker to use than my cumbersome Excel sheets. It will be great if/when this integrates into Trello. I've had a chat with Laurie and he assures me there are lots of integrations on the way. I'm excited to see where they can take this.
SUGGESTIONS: One addition I'd love is the option to map out the top 'Timeline' with dates. It is possible to map out by Day, Month, Quarter but I have the habit of working with the daily calendar. If that was an option I'd probably ditch my Excel forever.
VERDICT: If you manage projects I highly recommend this tool. Lots of neat templates to choose from, intuitive design and a generously priced LTD.
I'd say jump on this while you can. If and when it integrates with Trello it's going to be golden but already in its current form it is a really great way to map out your projects.
Thanks to Gantt.io and AppSumo for this little gem. There are sometimes diamonds in a lot of rough when it comes to LTD. I think I've found a diamond :)
Finally a project charting tool that works for proposals
As a technology strategy consulting firm, we often pitch complex, multi-phased projects to senior executives. Yes, we do use formal project planning tools to estimate the time and resources needed for an engagement, but getting a quality, beautiful graphic of the project plan out of these systems and into out proposals is a nightmare. We often resort to having a graphic designer recreate the Gantt charts and swim lanes. Not any more! This app produces exactly what's needed to communicate a complex plan in an attractive way. Its fast, easy and does its one job well. It is not a planning too: it is a graphical design tool for projects. And I am so happy to finally have this, rather than stumbling around with Visio, PowerPoint, Photoshop, etc.
There are a lot of customisation options. Thats good because I'm not too keen on these monochrome templates myself - it took me a while to create my own larger number of colour shades - it was a bit of some effort, but the good news here is: it's possible.
There are also some minor bugs. The biggest problem I see at the moment is the handling on small laptop screens. Especially when setting colours, you only see a fraction of the setting "dialog" in the left sidebar and the many necessary scrolls are actually extremely annoying.
I see the greatest potential in using the time section for the timeline more like a filter. It is the case that some graphics are not only prepared for a one-off presentation, but are used to report regularly to a steering committee. This means that over time more and more tasks are added, others are completed and the timeline becomes longer and longer. Then it would be good to be able to use the date filter in the timeline to easily define the time window that is displayed. Elements that do not fall within this time frame (especially tasks) should then be hidden. This is currently not possible and there is even a bug here that changes the start times of all tasks when changing the start time in the timeline.
All in all, I think gantt.io is a well-thought-out product, because you are not only limited to the predefined styles, but can also define your own. I also find the UI and handling (except for the problem mentioned above) very elegant and easy to use.
For me, Gantt.io is a recommendation. I would currently give it a good 🌮🌮🌮🌮. Some bug fixing and the timeline as a filter would raise it to a clear 5 tacos for me.
