I purchased IdeaBuddy because I needed a central location to log and structure my business and service ideas. While I could have used a Word document or a Notion database, IdeaBuddy’s appeal lies in being purpose-built for this task with the bonus of some AI bells and whistles.

After thoroughly exploring the platform, I quickly realized it doesn’t just have AI bells and whistles… it has a full AI symphony orchestra built in! The AI implementation is truly impressive.

One standout feature is the AI-generated template. However, calling it a "template" undersells its true value.

When starting a new idea, you describe your business or service in one clear sentence explaining what it is, what it offers, and who it’s for. You can also specify the business location and current stage: Idea, Launch, or Growth.

Next, it asks, "Would you like to use a template? Use an AI-generated template tailored to your business idea, or start from scratch if you prefer full control."

Initially, I was skeptical because templates often feel generic and require a lot of tweaking, often making more work. But since my idea was just a fun test concept, I decided to try it. Although generating the AI template costs 20 AI requests, in the end it was worth it.

IdeaBuddy did NOT generate a template. It crafted an incredibly accurate, personalized business plan from ONE sentence! It felt like it tapped directly into my brain and pulled the details right outta my noggin! There’s nothing generic about it.

That said, quality input is key. A well-thought-out, clear initial sentence describing your idea, offer, and audience is essential. With that, the AI delivers a plan that’s over 90% spot on, requiring only minimal tweaks.

Here are my recommendations for new users and the dev team:

New Users

1) Start with the Guide. There’s little initial guidance, but after testing, the Guide is the best starting point.

2) Definitely choose the AI-generated "template"—it’s NOT a template, and you’ll thank me later.

Suggestions for the Dev Team

1) I would move away from describing the AI assisted guide content as an AI Generated “Template.” It’s so much more than a “template.” It’s an AI Assisted Business Plan generated from one sentence. 🤯

2) When using the option to generate business name ideas with AI, also offer the option for AI-generated slogan ideas. I had to use Copilot separately for this.

3) Integrate AI-powered market research tools within the platform, such as growth rate analysis for your product/service in your market. This keeps users engaged without switching apps.

4) Similarly, add AI options for defining Total Addressable Market and other key metrics. More in-platform AI research means easier workflows for us and more revenue for you from AI request top-ups after we run out from all the research requests. 😄

5) Enhance the Validation feature so that it automatically pulls answers from the Guide or Plan minimizing our data entry for answers it can gather itself using AI. In addition, how about an AI agent that evaluates the Guide/Plan content and walks users through Validation steps explaining insights, uncertainties, and what needs clarification, until it can ultimately determine the validity of the idea.
