Q: Hi, looking at reviews for this product it seems some users have worrying concerns about security, notably ...

one claiming it records the users browser activity and is hidden behind a mysterious company registered in Romania.
Can you offer and information about whether this addon is safe and if so, why it is totally secure?

A: Hello!

Yes, I would happily address that review!

It happened in a moment when we were posting on reddit on a post that was seeking "alternative to". Immediately after our reddit post, the review was posted, and it got upvoted in 1-2 hours to a level that it was the top review. This can't easily be achieved without having at least 10 people vote on it. We tried to get in touch with that user to address it, but to no avail. If you read the other reviews, unlike other sheet add-ons that are not reachable, we are always there for our users. Usually when someone has a concern, they write directly.

Now to address the 2 aspects mentioned in the review:
1. "records the users browser activity" --> They are obviously trying to deter installs from users that don't have a basic understanding of web software tools. The recording which was happening at that time was HotJar - a tool that helps you figure out how the users are using your app. There are a lot of LTDs here that offer this tool, it's GDPR compliant 100% and it obfuscate any user input. We want to understand what the pain points of the app are. :)
2. "company registered in Romania" --> If you read between lines, they are making it quite personal at this point. When they can't challenge someone with arguments, they pick on things on a rather personal level - and we would rather not expand our thoughts related to this! :)
One thing is for certain: Romania is proudly part of the EU and there is no mysterious way to register a company in the EU. Our company registration is the following (kpistar integrate SRL, J12/3051/2020 VAT CODE RO43825362). EU companies are strictly bound by GDPR rules, and we are not selling or accessing any user data.

We hope that we've addressed the concern. Now if you read the review again, you'll see that it wasn't a concern, but rather an attack from someone that wanted to hurt our installs.

Happily available to get into a video call to address any other concerns that you might have! :)

Oh, forgot to explain the other "security" review.

When you install a google sheet add-on (or any other ouath modern tool), there's a "allow kpibees to access your google account".. That's what happened to the other user :)
