Q: Hi, I have a gmail account (abc@gmail.
com) but I use gmail's "send mail as" settings so that my mail is sent as [email protected]. Would I need change my settings to use mailmeteor or would it be any less effective?

Thanks for your question!
You don't have to change anything to your set up. If you have already configured an email alias, Mailmeteor will be able to use it in order to send emails from that email address.
Before sending, you will have the option to choose from which email alias you want to send emails from. Note that a lot of people have troubles with aliases because the Gmail process to add them is quite complicated. The best way to make sure your alias really works is to send a test email from your alias while logged in Gmail with your @gmail.com account. If this work, then it will work like a charm in Mailmeteor.
Hope I answered your question, let me know :-)
