Q: Love this and just tested out the free version of Mailmeteor, and was surprised to see that including the ...
unsubscribe link moves emails sent via Mailmeteor from the Primary to the Promotions tab of Gmail. Is this normal / to be expected?
...I then went and did the same test with YAMM, and emails sent from YAMM with their unsubscribe link still come to the Primary tab in Gmail, so I was wondering, is this something that could be improved / looked into with Mailmeteor?

Really glad to hear you enjoyed testing out Mailmeteor!
I don't think that including the unsubscribe link is what caused your email to go into the Promotions folder. Sometimes, the exact same email, sent under the same conditions will go to the Promotions folder for some reason as Gmail anti-spam filters might treat a legit email as spam. To give you more context, the unsubscribe link used by Mailmeteor is unique to your email account and uses Google's infrastructure behind the scenes. Hence, that should not affect your deliverability in any way.
The best would be for you to try on a bigger sample and with real recipients (not sending a test mail to yourself). In case you still need help understanding the results you get, please contact us and we'll dig deeper together ;)
Warm regards,
Jean
