The app you didn't know you needed
Gone are the days of tediously scanning documents to import into OCR software. I was able to get TextSniper downloaded, installed, and ready for use in roughly 5 minutes!
After the ridiculously easy installation on my Mac, I selected the "Import from phone" feature. It immediately activated the camera on my iPhone, and after taking a picture of a page in a book, it instantly copied the results to the clipboard. After pasting the results into a blank document, I was delighted to see how accurate and precise the transcription was. This process took 1-2 minutes, max.
It even has an "additive clipboard" so you can process multiple images at once. Wow.
Adobe Acrobat Pro has a similar OCR feature, and after a comparison, I found TextSniper to be more accurate on the details and much less complicated to use. And do you really want a pay a monthly premium for the Adobe version when you can buy TextSniper for less than a cup of designer coffee?
There are clear advantages to have a stand-alone app that is dedicated to a single purpose, especially when it resides in your menu bar for quick and easy access.
I'll be using this app a lot. Mac users, don't miss this one!
