Some of the markets we are in have very little competition and some have a lot. Most of them are some type of ecommerce so getting the ball rolling on a backlink strategy can at times be quiet the process. It's a helluva lot easier to develop links to our content sites but for the run of the mill ecommerce, it can be a task.

Along comes Link Chest and away go a lot of my early site linking issues. I develop the site, drop it in Link Chest, and my VA goes to work.

Link Chest has an easy to use interface that keeps track of all your links and nicely separates the opportunities into categories.

Will this be the last or only thing you need? Maybe not. Depends in part on how competitive your niche is. But it is enough to get the ball rolling without me having to spend my time on scraping and posting and allows me to keep an eye on how my VA is advancing through the links.
