Q: Why no British English option?

I'm extremely disappointed to find that 'English' in the language dropdown is in fact US English, not British English as is the original language. And British English is not offered as an option at all - pretty shocking and unfortunately this renders Writecream useless to me (and indeed to any other British customers). I am also surprised that there is no language selector in the Content Editor, although I appreciate this would not resolve this issue for me given that British English is not available on your platform.
I wanted something that would make my life easier, not harder by having to make endless edits to the spelling of the outputs. This is such a missed opportunity and one that could be so easily remedied. I see I am not the first to highlight this so it is clearly not a priority. Such a shame.

A: Hello,

Greetings for the day!

I understand how important British English is for your work and I’m sorry for the inconvenience this has caused

We are currently working on adding full support for British English across the platform. We recently added support for several additional regional languages and British English is actively being worked on. Because Writecream has many different tools (SEO, long-form, rewriting, ChatGenie, etc.), we want to ensure the spelling, grammar and tone are consistent across all modules before releasing it

In the meantime, you can use ChatGenie as a temporary workaround to convert content into British English. Here is a sample prompt you can use:

"Convert the following text into British English. Update all spellings, phrasing and tone to match native UK usage while keeping the meaning the same: [paste your text here]"

ChatGenie will then rewrite the entire output using British spelling (colour, organisation, optimise, etc.) and typical UK phrasing

I know this isn’t a perfect solution but full British English support is already in progress and will be added soon. Your feedback helps us prioritise improvements and I appreciate you took the time to pen your thoughts

Thank you,
Robin

Hi Robin,
Thanks for your reply.
It's not necessary to have the entire platform in British English; only the outputs.
I appreciate your suggested workaround but I daresay it'll use up precious AI credits, which is unfair and frustrating. I'm already unclear on what the various processes cost in terms of credits and seem to have spent some without getting any value from them.

In relation to this, it would be really helpful (not to mention transparent) if:
1. There is a clear list of what each function costs so we know in advance.
2. A notice is displayed to state how many credits any action will cost before those credits are spent. Otherwise it feels like they're all disappearing into a black hole and it is impossible to plan how to use the credits effectively.

Thanks for your feedback and I’m happy to share that English (British) is now available. You can switch to it here: https://app.writecream.com/change-language

As part of the A/B tests, we are figuring how to show credit balance and usage better. These are shown in the top right corner of the dashboard homepage currently. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please message our chat support
