A project is a GA4 Property. Each project can connect with 1 GA4, 1 GTM Container, 1 Server-side container and 1 BigQuery Dataset.
Projects are like slots, if you’re finished working on a project, you can delete them from settings > delete project and create a new one.
Once you integrate GA4, GTM and BigQuery with a project, it can’t be changed without deleting and recreating a project. (This is because there are many dependencies on the attached credentials such as alerts and reports use the credentials to send you data at scheduled time. Changing credentials would break a lots of functionality and scheduled jobs)

Yes, you can think of it as a “Reusable” project that connects to a domain of the website. In GA4 you’ll track all domain and subdomains in a single property.
