a little too basic for me
I have experience with tools like this but I cannot really compare this with most of the better Digital Asset Managers (DAMs). I would like to say there is room for growth here, but I also dont think my subset is their target demographic.
There are, understandably, some bugs, but the biggest drawbacks that I have are the isolated ecosystem, and the lack of robust features.
The isolated ecosystem means that I cannot not [easily] integrate into my flow AND what I do in mediaplace stays in media place. IF I was not doing heavy graphic design AND did not already use systems that overlapped with DAM features, then that may not be an issue. If I simply wanted a way to organize my files and do very basic editing (rotate, crop, etc) then this could work. However, that issue paired with not having robust editing features does hurt the chance for doing more than the very basic. They seem to be incorporating alot of (disjointed) functionality - but that functionality feels subpar at the moment. I would almost think the vision is like a jack of all trades, but that would be giving more to it than is owed. Unfortunately, I do not think that they are tailoring for advanced users so I dont foresee these tools being given much depth.
If you are a user who doesnt need much more than a way to organize your collection of files with some cool features that are more than windows explorer paired with windows paint provides, then this could work. My biggest concern in that scenario is the stability of the program and understanding potential risk of using with your important files.
