Not Perfect, But Too Much Good Stuff to Ignore

Lots of other great comments already in the reviews about what MediaPlace can and cannot do, so I won't go indepth on these things. But here is my take on MediaPlace. First, managing digital assets is a serious challenge and growing need as our digital libraries grow, and to the best of my knowledge, there are no good low-cost options that do this well. For just $39 LTD, you're getting a really compelling solution. Second, MediaPlace is not perfect. My biggest gripe and challenge with it - and the one thing from making me tell colleagues everywhere to buy it NOW - is the need to move or copy all of your images into MediaPlace. Part of this might get resolved as I get more accustomed to letting MediaPlace be my sole means of managing assets. Right now, I have systems in place for organizing my media, and to really utilize MediaPlace well, I need to abandon those. The other challenge is that you can't manage (as far as I can tell) assets located in multiple locations - e.g. locally AND in one or more cloud locations or external drives. I'd love to have a 5TB internal SSD where I can store everything, but yeah, I don't - and won't anytime soon. Third, there are a ton of features in MediaPlace that add a lot of value, and the developer just keeps adding to what this fairly solid app can already do. I really appreciate not only his regular communications to keep his users updated, but his committment to continual improvement. Bottom line for me: MediaPlace isn't all I want it to be, and I'm still figuring out how and how much I want to use it, but there is way more than $39 in value here, especially when you consider how MediaPlace might continue to evolve and improve. If you're on the fence at all, I'd say get it while you can!

Hi and thank you very much for sharing your point! Your first concern is correct. Right now MediaPlace copies files instead of indexing them. But we've planned to add a new module to allow browsing your files instead of having to import them into MP. About the second point, that it actually possible. You can create as many libraries as you like and each one can be located in different drives and folders. Anyway you will see many more features and improvements coming..
