A Platform I Want to Love—But Can’t Yet
I was really hopeful about Meetn as a Zoom alternative—and there are things I want to like—but it’s not quite there yet.
As someone transitioning from Zoom, I expected a bit of a learning curve. That’s fine. What wasn’t fine was realizing that Meetn doesn’t allow for basic formatting in your display name—like slashes between pronouns. There’s currently no easy or inclusive way to share pronouns at all, which feels surprisingly out of step for 2025.
But the bigger issue? During my very first meeting, I was unexpectedly kicked out of the room at the 45-minute mark, along with my guest. My internet was stable, and there was no clear explanation for why it happened. The person I was meeting with is my VA, and he was actively considering switching his own clients to Meetn based on how our call went—until that happened.
I’m planning to try again to see if it was just a one-off glitch, but I’ll be honest: it shook my confidence. Reliability and inclusivity are non-negotiables when choosing a platform for professional use. I’m rooting for Meetn to step up, but until then, I can’t fully recommend it.
That said, I’ll gladly come back and update this review if my experience improves—or worsens—as I continue testing it.
