The best music service I've found
I have four other music LTDs. A couple of them are mediocre. A couple of them are good. I kept buying more, because it's sometimes difficult to find the right sound for a particular video. This also means that I sometimes spend too much time searching for appropriate music. It is time that I've had to spend, though, because the right music is, in many ways, more important than the visuals.
Melodie solves my problem of having to spend too much time searching four music services. Melodie's tracks are consistently much better than what the other services provide. I can find what I need on Melodie and be done with it.
Melodie also makes my search a bit faster than on the other services. Their search function is well thought out. You can search by genre, mood, instrument, purpose, BPM, and key. Most of the other services can do that, too. But Melodie breaks these out into more subsets (sub-genre, sub-mood, instrument variations, etc.) than the other services. You can combine multiples of these and even exclude some to narrow down your search.
My only complaint so far is that the definition of these sub-genres is a bit loose. Under Blues and Jazz, there are 15 sub-genres. A few of those I wouldn't call jazz. I was pleased to see Ragtime listed (I've never agreed that this is a form of jazz, but that tends to be where everyone puts it.). They only have 11 tracks listed for Ragtime, and only six of those sound like rags to me.
Overall, though, this is an easy five tacos. The music is consistently good, there's a good amount of it, and it's fairly easy to find what you need in a reasonable amount of time.

May 9, 2024Hi Mojosam - amazing - thank you and glad you're loving it!
Intuitive search is a big part of our offering at Melodie, we try to organise things as neatly as possible, with simple filters as well as more advanced features for those who need them. Every track is absolutely packed with creative metadata. Agree those Genre -> Sub-Genre fields are a little busy but only to try to limit buttons. We'll keep working on the intuitive nature of search - it's a continuous process - and will get you some more Ragtime!
By the way - have you watched Drunk History? That's where our Ragtime tunes were originally used, worth a watch :-)
