I've only used twice so far but really enjoy using it. The first time was with photos already in my media library, the second with a direct upload.
The flexibility is great and being able to quickly scroll through and edit photos is very useful.
Multiple plugins for the Pro version is a bit of pain but not the end of the world!
I've also learnt the need to keep captions really short with the thumbnail hover effect. I did wonder if a way to make the font smaller or responsive but really just a case of character-length discipline when adding captions.
All in all, a very useful bit of kit for anyone wishing to showcase their photos.

Improvements: - please make it possible to change the size of all pictures in the costum grid. Currently if you want to change the thumbnail size of your pictures you have to change it for every single picture. That takes a lot of time if you have big galleries.
If you know how much it cost for hosting your pictures with CDN include (so your site could load at lot faster) then you know Modula is for you. You get photo gallery and video gallery too (youtube and vooplayer host the video side). This is steal. Grab it while you can!!! Or you are going to regret it later.
Looks good on the Front But Functionality is Incredibly Poor
At the moment I am using 2 plugins to manage my Video and Photo galleries to make my life easier.
I was thinking this could substitute those 2 and be a more solid premium option for me.
First problem I have with it is that you have to install 2 plugins plus extension to get it to work with all features.
This is merely my perspective, and I understand this can be a good product for people that don't care about any of the features I will mention.
Second is how poor the video feature is, this is one of the main reasons why I bought this plugin, I wanted to be able to create rich media galleries, but the functionality is very poor.
For example, for you to add a video, you have to add a picture first, even if it is from Youtube. It is not able to fetch the already existing thumbnail from youtube, so it just gives you more work. You actually have to design a thumbnail and upload it manually if you want it to work properly.
My third issue with it is the awful functional design choices made for the galleries.
POPUPS? Why slow loading popups? I use a free plugin to manage my video gallery from youtube and it has the option to just play on the page itself without loading some layer with a popup.
Another thing I feel is missing is a preview button or something. You actually have to embed it on a page to see how it is working as far as I understand, maybe I'm missing something?
In conclusion, I honestly feel that the fact of having to install multiple plugins, poor video gallery functionality, slow and clunky popups for content display and lack of a preview functionality are really poor. It's like this was not properly thought of.
Otherwise this plugin has great potential and if these issues were not there, I would very likely rate this 4 or 5 tacos.
