Q: In reading reviews (elsewhere) it looks like you require people to upgrade when major updates are released, ...
and after updating, they are put on a free trial, and to keep their data they must pay for the update (or go back to the previous version and lose all their data). Considering the initial cost, this seems like a poor business model. Prior to committing to this product, I'd like to know how frequently major (paid) updates occur, and what is the typical or average cost of each update?
We understand your concern about our upgrade policy. Upgrades are optional, and users can choose to continue using the previous version if they are happy with it. If a user does choose to upgrade, they will be put on a free trial for 15 days. During this time, they can try out the new features and decide if they want to keep it. If they do, they will need to pay the upgrade fee. The current cost of upgrading from v5 to v6 is $39.95. Major updates are released every 3-4 years.
If a user does not want to pay the upgrade fee, they can roll back to the previous version. In this case, their data will not be lost. However, it is important to note that the user needs to save the data file in the format of the previous version. Otherwise, the file will not open in the previous version.
We understand that losing data can be a major concern, and we want to assure you that we have taken steps to prevent this from happening. MLO automatically creates backups after every 'save' action. If a user ever experiences data loss, they can restore their data from the backup. Here you can learn more about backup in MLO: https://www.mylifeorganized.net/support/restore-from-backup/
Hope this information addresses your concerns. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
Unlike what MLO replied above, updating is NOT optional. Sure, you have the option if you're going to update or not, but at some point you will have a license to a product that is no longer supported on any operating system anymore. Also, how on earth is a 20% discount a HEFTY discount for software? I love the software, but I'm never gonna buy it at these prices and with this businessmodel.
Q: Hey,
Will this work with Mac and ios?
Do I need to buy something else to make this work? Thank you!
A: The iOS app should be purchased separately: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/mylifeorganized/id649795842?mt=8
There is no native application for Mac at this moment. As a workaround, it is possible to run MLO on Mac through Crossover. Here is an instruction: https://www.mylifeorganized.net/support/setup-on-crossover
It is also possible to install the iPad version on Mac with M1 or M2 processor.
A: Yes, you can do that. There is an automatic system that monitors the number of currently activated devices and you will be notified if the limit is exceeded.
Is an additional charge required? In your deal info, you've stated "(additional subscription is required) plus WiFi Sync mobile to desktop" however, this feature is part of the Pro tier..?
This only seems to be 10$ less than the price on your website, correct? Or are there more things you get buying through AppSumo?
Finally, can you use this to share tasks with someone or is it a standalone for a single person with no options for collaboration?
