Vote of confidence for MyMemo, much room for improvement
First of all, I have decided to go with a tier 3, after doing some tests with MyMemo.
I have been able to verify many of the things that have already been said in reviews and questions on AppSumo, but I think they should have the opportunity to show "what they are made of", especially in the first half of 2025 (a year that in fact, I know will give us many surprises in the world of AI). In general, I recommend them keeping in mind that there are many points of improvement:
- Yes, it works very similarly to NotebookLM (which is free), although leaving it at that simple comparison I think is not enough.
- I couldn't help but see the tremendous similarity (more than NoteBookLM) with MyMind. So I ask:
1. How are they different from MyMind? (I'm already in, but... for someone who isn't), what would be the decisive factor to choose "MyMemo" and not "MyMind"?
- Yes, it seems that the processing times for PDFs are quite slow (beyond the issue of loading and number of pages), I tested with "small" documents (5Mb) of 22 pages... In a world where most users are already used to Notebook LM, you would expect the processing to be faster, in my case, for this example it was several minutes... I refreshed "the note" several times to see the summary... finally it was there, after several minutes. But I also noticed that although the summary is done, this PDF still takes longer to be considered in the chat responses.
2. There is a lot to improve regarding loading speed, limits (weight and pages) with PDF sources. What are your plans to improve this?
- I saw on the product page that they use GPT mini 4o and that's what I see in MyMemo too, I have some doubts about this use...
3. Will it always be free and unlimited or are there usage limits (tokens) and how would these limits affect the interaction with collections in MyMemo?
4. Are there plans to be able to bring an OpenAI API of its own to improve the results in the chat? or use other models...?
- I realized when testing that yes, I can add videos from Youtube, but...
5. Can't I add videos from other sources? (for example VIMEO, Facebook, Instagram, other networks... Or directly from the computer)
- I saw when adding new sources that "files" allows PDF, DOC, EXCEL, TXT...
6. Why don't you allow the upload of .PPT? Will it always be necessary to convert it to PDF to be able to have it in MyMemo or are there plans to add it in the future?
7. Do you plan to add the ability to chat with a specific note? (this would be tremendously useful).
- I did a simple test with your MyMemo FAQ demo... putting in the chat first "Does MyMemo have OCR?" and then just "OCR", because I saw it mentioned in the section about PDF processing speed... in both cases the response was: "No specific information found" which seems very strange to me, because it is mentioned. I started from the idea that since this note is a "demo", it should already be fully processed in order to interact with it...
8. How does MyMemo work every time we make a request for information through the chat? Does it send "the text" of all our notes as "additional context in a prompt" to provide a response?
9. I think that adding additional options to the "collections" could be very good, a kind of "fine-tuning to improve results" "polishing the prompt"... This would make it possible to use it "almost" like GPTs.
Lastly: Congratulations to the team behind MyMemo, I think they have a great tool that just needs polishing. Greetings šøš»

Feb 18, 2025Thank you for your feedback and questions.
1. To clarify, MyMind is dedicated to life logging, while MyMemo targets fragmented reading and serves as a secondary brain for individual and team knowledge.
2. We have upgraded and sped up our PDF processing.
3. The page number limit has been removed.
4. The file size limit for PDFs will be increased.
5. We currently use GPT-4o for some functions and Mini for specific scenarios.
6. Our free policy will remain unchanged. As our user base grows, we aim to achieve a completely free ai assistant/tool.
7. Introducing users' OpenAI API is under consideration based on user feedback.
8. We currently support only YouTube videos with subtitles, but plan to expand this to include more sources.
9. We are internally testing the processing of PPT files.
10. We now support chatting with specific notes; the toggle is located in the upper right corner of the page.
11. We will review the Q&A issue you mentioned. Thank you for the feedback.
12. When we process chat requests for information, we first match related files in the library and do not send all text, only processing the necessary parts.
13. Regarding your comment, "I think that adding additional options to the 'collections' could be very good, a kind of 'fine-tuning to improve results' 'polishing the prompt'... This would make it possible to use it 'almost' like GPTs." ā Are you suggesting customizable summary styles?
