Q: Question about Image Upscaling and DPI Enhancement for Print Quality

Hello,

When using your service to enhance and upscale images, does the process also improve the DPI (dots per inch) of the image? Most AI-generated images usually have a quality of 72 DPI, while print-on-demand platforms require at least 300 DPI. Can your tool increase the DPI accordingly for print-quality results?

Thank you.

A: Thank you for your question!

AI-generated images often default to 72 DPI, which is standard for digital screens but not suitable for high-quality printing. Print-on-demand platforms typically require 300 DPI to ensure sharp, detailed results.

While our upscaling tool does not directly modify the DPI metadata, it significantly increases the pixel resolution of your image. For example, a 1024×1024 px AI-generated image at 72 DPI can only be printed at around 3.4×3.4 inches at 300 DPI without losing quality. However, after using our AI Upscaler, the image can be enlarged to 4096×4096 px, allowing you to print at up to 13.6×13.6 inches at 300 DPI — suitable for professional-quality print.

To summarize: our tool increases the resolution, which in turn allows you to print at larger sizes with 300 DPI quality, even though the DPI value itself isn’t changed automatically. You can manually set the DPI to 300 in the printing preferences and it will maintain the upscaled quality.

Let us know if you need help preparing images for specific print sizes — we're happy to assist!
