Warning! Just found out the developer has launched a new app called Shyne that’s basically a copy of NEXTDOCS.

That means no more updates or support for NEXTDOCS, the dev’s all in on Shyne now. And get this, Shyne isn’t even a lifetime deal!

It feels like they’re ditching NEXTDOCS completely. I’m getting a full refund and seriously, don’t buy this app unless you want something half-finished that’ll feel ancient in a few months. Save your money!

I don't understand how it integrates with google doc but I can't export it as a google doc only pdf which creates all kinds of layout errors if I then try to turn it into a google doc! I guess it works okay if you want to create slides as you can creat powerpoint or google slides. Also they new shine aka next doc version 2 thing is shady. will be refunding

I bought NextDocs tier-3 expecting ongoing development and support, backed by promises from the developers right on here in the Q&A. Instead, they quietly kill it, push users onto Shyne, a product that didn’t just appear overnight but was clearly planned all along.

This bait-and-switch is blatant: they sold us a half-built tool, then dumped it to chase quick profits with Shyne. Using dashboard pop-ups to break the news is disrespectful and deceptive.

I wasted time and money on a product they never intended to maintain. This isn’t just bad business but frankly it’s dishonest. As with Logically and many other recent deals, AppSumo needs to stop bringing these deals to its community or it’ll lose what little trust remains.

I love working with NextDocs, and I have to say while I know it's still in early stage development, I am excited to see how the tool evolves. I bought tier two so I don't know how video generation works, but I have used it several times already specifically for creating nice visual documents for my consulting practice. I have tried tools like Gamma, Canva, and even LLM models, but I never could get the consistent results I was looking for to easily produce professional looking documents for everyday business. I don't have good design skills, but I am visual and I feel like NextDocs works very well for those who need a more professional style for documents that may need to be printed, or used in client interactions. I feel like most of the similar tools out there cater more to the "Online Marketing" group for e-commerce, or SaaS, but not for people who are working in the financial sectors, or real estate, or more professional type markets. If I had great design skills, I'm sure I could get away with using Canva to create them, but for my niche I would be more likely to use something like Visme which is terribly expensive for a solo operator like me. NextDocs has filled that gap for me, and while I expect to have an issue or two here and there, for me it has performed extremely well. I will say, I'm not using it to create 100 page documents, or anything. Mostly I'm using it for one-pagers, lead magnets, and documents that I want to have a more visual or presentation style look, but without it actually being a presentation with slides. It may do presentations well, but I haven't used it for that yet. All in all, for what I needed for documents specifically, it fits the bill very well.
