My first 10-codes deal!

I don't always leave reviews, but Nifty is my first 10-codes deal so I figured it was worth leaving a review.

As many sumolings, my team and I have been through several project management apps over the years. My monthly subscription was to Teamwork.com, which was great but price changes they implemented 2 years ago just wasn't right for us. So the last 2-ish years we've been using Plutio, which I got here on AppSumo.

Plutio is great and offered many basic project management features and many business management features. Plutio is a business management app, not a true project management app. And Plutio is adding more business management features, while there isn't much focus on the project management side. It's still missing milestones, dependencies, grouping projects together, no automation, and for a business management app it can be a bit buggy during new updates. Something breaks and needs to be fixed. Although Plutio team does get issues fixed relatively quickly. A lot of the missing things are coming, but I can't wait and when I saw Nifty deal I knew it was time to move my main business off Plutio (still using it for side projects).

Nifty has all the features we need, especially the ones I listed above that Plutio didn't have: dependencies, milestones, automation, grouping of projects (portfolios), and smoother UI.

I think Nifty is better in terms of project management than Plutio simply because Nifty is a project management app, while Plutio has a wider scope and the small team is spread thin across many different areas trying to fix bugs and add new features.

You can read about Nifty's features on their website, here are a few things that I find very useful:

- The support team is very responsive, answered my questions as I was setting up
- UI is very fast and mostly intuitive, very low learning curve
- Tasks page has a nice filtering option where you can filter tasks by many different attributes
- Workloads page gives you a nice overview of the work for each team member
- You can disable project features if needed like milestones, discussions, etc.
- Google Drive integration works well, easy to open/find documents to include with project/task
- Dependencies, dependencies, dependencies!

There's a lot more than what I've listed. This is just what stands out to me.

There's only one thing that bothers me about Nifty, which can a problem for anyone with certain disabilities. Nifty is not accessible. Tab navigation doesn't work (outline is set to zero on all elements). The color contrast ratios in light and dark themes are too low, don't meet WCAG AA standard. I don't need to tab navigate or have issues with my sight, but we've had clients before who wouldn't be able to use Nifty for these reasons. I brought it up to the team, they said they noted it.

Unfortunately, accessibility is still an afterthought across majority of SaaS products.

Nifty is the right tool for our business, it might be right for yours too.
