So far, so good! A happy Frame.io convert

I'm only a couple of days into using the platform, but here are my thoughts so far. I work across video, audio and graphic design. I've used tools like Frame.io as well as broader file-sharing platforms like Dropbox, Google Drive and more for client feedback. This LTD made it a bit of a no-brainer to switch. Initially went for Tier 2, loaded it up, and upgraded to Tier 3 to get the increased storage.

Shared it with a client — 1 as an approver and another as an "anyone with the link" user — and the latter commented "Gosh, how cool was that! I like the platform, so easy to use". That's all I can ask for as a freelance creative! Saved me lots of emails back-and-forth and potential miscommunications.

There are lots of standout features, but the version comparisons for images is particularly impressive — great for clients to be able to quickly and easily review amends.

Couple of comments:
1. I'd love to see Google Drive/Dropbox/other cloud storage integration that doesn't eat into the storage capacity for natively-hosted media. Surprised this isn't already part of the platform to be honest.

2. Bug: Not sure if it's an audio-only issue, but you can click to add a comment at 0s, but the pop-up doesn't appear so you can't add text 🤷‍♂️

3. Still testing, but I found that 4k 60fps footage buffered a lot more than on other platforms on the same network connection.

4. As others have commented, more tools like arrows (vs the basic freehand markup) would be great.

5. For time-based media, it'd be useful to have a checkbox toggle to post general comments that aren't assigned to a specific time.

6. I'm not really sure what the '9 AppSumo Lite' licenses I can gift means under my account settings. Are they fully fledged accounts, or something else? It doesn't seem to be to do with the members I add to a project, and I haven't found any obvious info about this.

Hi Peter

Thank you for a very nice review!
Your feature request are well received 🙏

Specifically regarding your ‘9 AppSumo Lite’ licenses:
Today we only have individual user licenses, but we would like to upgrade you with the ability to group the user accounts from the packs bought here on AppSumo into team licenses, that would allow for simpler management, team sharing and communication...

I've used others... this one is very nice, and plenty generous.

I've used Frame, Screenlight, and Wipster... I was even a brand ambassador for one of them. Even still, I've been on the hunt for a replacement. I let a previous AppSumo offering slip away because I wasn't thrilled about it, and I maybe I'm jaded but that almost led me to not give Niimblr a second look. I mean, that name is worth at least half a taco deduction, right?

It would have been a mistake to let this pass by.

I was up and running with three codes in a matter of minutes. I grabbed some of my old client work and tested it out. The functionality met or exceeded what I ever experienced with the other tools. I even logged back into some of the old tools to remind myself of the experience. Frankly, Niimblr has a better UI than most of the tools. Uploads are pretty zippy, and I (mostly) like how drawing tools are handled even over videos... which says a lot!
If you do client work with content assets (images, 3D, video, etc.) you need one of these tools. Pick which one, pick how much you want to pay, and use it... you need these. But Niimblr makes a very good case with this LTD as to why you should pick them. Good functionality, good price, generous specs. (Hey, I always want more, too... but there's a limit to all things.)

Speaking of... tools like Niimblr are asset review tools. They're not for long term archiving and storage. Yes, you can archive your projects and I've done that a time or two elsewhere before setting up a better storage solution (NAS with cloud backup, in case you want a tip) for video storage, but this tool is for when your team/editor thinks they're ready to go with a file and those approvals are needed.

You upload the asset, get the approvals, identify and put the asset on a revision workflow if needed, and then off it goes. These sites are more like forks of the content in your FINAL_NOREALLY_ACTUALLYFINALTHISTIME folder to get the approvals rather than video storage.

If you work with a Audio/Video/3D/Graphics team, or have clients that receive these assets, this is the place to get those assets seen, reviewed, commented upon, etc. And to have the papertrail of what was signed off on and what wasn't.

If you work with assets and aren't solo... get this.

Hi ChaseRaz,

Thank you for this very candid and thorough review.
Your past experience with other tools and the approval process in general shines through, which makes your 5 star rating even more appreciated 🙏

Since we are always trying to improve, I would love to get your specific feedback about what's needed for video-drawing to hit bullseye.
If you are up for it, shoot us a mail at...

Video and media review, the best software for collaboration.

This seems like it would be great for YouTubers who outsource their editing. Typically, game YouTubers or mukbang YouTubers in South Korea outsource their editing a lot. Also, it would be fun to use it for getting feedback and editing ideas by showing the videos they make to friends or family in advance.

Easy Feedback Platform for Content Creators & Freelancers

I quickly used it for a pdf and a video.

Everything works great...especially marking up videos. I didn't have to dig into the knowledge base to figure something out. I had it down in just a few clicks around.

FEATURE REQUEST: I wish there were an "arrow" markup tool in addition to the freeform.

FEATURE REQUEST: Video comments would be outstanding as some people can't explain changes by words alone.

I give it 4 stars because I don't like that the client has to create an account. After working with me, it's a dead account.

FEATURE REQUEST: It would be ideal to establish guest accounts.

If I'm sharing a link to one person, it's obvious that's the client.

If you're NOT a website developer get this.

I have Userback, but Niimblr is best for overall content creators.

Hi Beekeeper, 🐝

Thank you very much for the honest review. The simplicity and ease of use is something that is at the very top of our mind, so we are happy you appreciate it. 🍯

You're pointing out some great feature requests and we have recorded them for future prioritization. 🗒️
- As for the arrow markup tool then you could use the “pin” 📌 as a temporary solution so you don't have to do...
