Goodbye Evernote 👋
I've used Evernote since 2012.
It's a good solid system that's been around for a long time. And to be honest, I haven't noticed much in the way of innovation or improvement from them during that time.
I read that Nimbus Notes was an upgrade from Evernote. So decided to give a try.
Within 1/2 hour I had my entire account moved over to Nimbus. All that's involved is selecting all notes you want to move and saving them as an "Enex" file (I think).
Uploading them Nimbus took a few seconds, then probably 20 minutes for the notes to show up in the new system.
I've had it installed on my PC, browser, and phone for a day or so now and really like it.
Nimbus is similar to Evernote in some ways and slightly different in others.
Is it better?
In a word, "yes".
Here are my top-of-mind thoughts on why it's better...
1. The UI is clean and uncluttered
2. You can add lots of workspaces, which you'd use for different projects or departments in an organization
3. It traverses my notes a LOT quicker than Evernote when doing searches. Probably shows that
4. I can invite multiple team members, who I can set up with their own workspaces, even on the basic plan.
The things I miss from Evernote:
1. I used tags AND sub-tags. I don't believe Nimbus has this feature (yet)
2. I could class notes as "In progress", "Reference", or "Cabinet". I think I'll need to add separate status tags for doing that
The desktop app, web app, and phone app all work smoothly. I haven't used the NImbus Clipper yet, though.
Overall, I am pleased to change over Nimbus. Just seems more nimble with the air of a product that's still innovative.
