Does that mean that if we buy notion, we cannot update the software to newer versions as they're released and we're stuck with this version for life? (What use is lifetime access if you can't stay up-to-date with the product's lifecycle as it evolves?)

A: Notion API is separate from notion templates, so no templates "come with" the API per se. You can find out more about the API on their official page for it: https://developers.notion.com/
