Nice Reboot of nTask

I am a university professor with a strong technical background, and I have been looking for a tool to gently introduce project management to business undergraduate students. nTask has been around a while and does provide more than a decent set of “common” features. That being said, nTask’s history has not always been rosy. As I pointed out in Questions, a quick search on Google (and the App/Play stores) would suggest a less-than-stellar product. Most of the complaints relate to features, UX/UI, billing and support. Most complaints are also a couple of years old. I am a strong believer in “things can change.”

There have also been complaints about “speed” issues and I’ve experienced a couple. So I built up an uptime object to monitor nTask’s performance and availability from several points around the world. With exception to a handful of anecdotes, the data would suggest that the platform is largely stable and responsive. Performance from some parts of the world are absolutely better than others. Again, improvements can (and should) obviously be made but nTask’s performance is not horrible overall!

On the flip-side, Fahad has stuck it out for 5 years and I believe he and his team are committed to the product. They are engaged in active development and seem to have impressed Noah and team. After a couple of back-and-forths with support, I’m getting the impression that they (1) have a genuine vision for the product, (2) are overwhelmed and (3) are working on finding their groove. Speaking as someone who defines the term “ADHD” I can tell you that focusing during a growth/restructuring period can be challenging! So I can appreciate what the nTask team is going through.

So to summarize: I am cautiously enthusiastic that the product will grow to be impressive. I hope they pull together a public roadmap because some of the things they want to do with the product are quite nice. Topping my wish list is an API! But they’re not off to a bad start. They, therefore, have my strongest recommendation and five tacos.
