The first glimpse
Okay everybody, as this seems one of the "potential gems" I decidet to give it a test. Bought Tier 3 and uploadet a video. First the software, then the deal-breakers:
The GOOD
The Backend is really polished and it´s obvious this softare is not a "short-term-project". Yes, there are many glitches and little things that are "not nice", but the overall flow works, the backend seems modern, all is good.
Glitches for example:
- When accidentially clicking on a wrong video for upload, there is no "cancel"-button.
- When no translation is choosen I don´t see a way to add it later
- The transcriptions are not really good. In my test-video the first (important) word is not shown because of the (annoying) title-page and the first minutes there is no transcript.
All in all it works good, but this is NOT a replacement for Opus Clip. It is not able to aim for a certain length and it does not summarize the whole video. So the main point for using this software should be the translations that I didn´t test so far.
However, I would keep it and expect a good developement, but there is a big Deal-Breaker:
The DEAL-BREAKER
Wherever I look, everywhere it says "costs xxx credits". Download a video? 8 Credits. Download the mp3? 5 Credits. Download bouth? 10 Credits (bundle-price).
In the description it also says hosting is charged with one credit per month. I guess per minute as everything is per minute". So downloading a 30-minute-Video will cost you 240 Credits.
I don´t know what actions are all "charged with credits" and I feel like in a pay-to-win-smartphone-game. The ingame-currency is "credits" and it´s absolutely not transparent what to do with those credits. I think you can discard ALL other limits, the onliest really interesting thing is the credits. I mean this serious: I don´t think you can reach any of the other Limits because you don´t have enough credits to reach the limits.
And 500 Credits monthly is really not a lot. Even on the highest tier, 5.000 Credits, that´s the equivalent of downloading 250 Minutes of Video. On the hightes tier! And then you must wait for the next month if you also want to download the mp3s.
Maybe it´s not fair to compare with "long videos" because there are different usecases. If you look for Tiktoks, Instagram-Reels and YouTube-Shorts this might work way better as the limits are not that hard. But again, this is NOT a replacement for Opus Clip as it does not deal with the time-limits that are neccecary for shorts.
So even if the backend is nice and it seems to head in a good direction, I don´t think I will keep it if there is not happening a BIG change in the whole credits-system. It will not be enough to just "give more credits", it needs way more transparency in what is charged for and what is includet and so on.
All the best, Julian!

May 9, 2024Hi Julian! First, thanks for trying out OneTake AI and providing this in-depth review! 🙌
You've written a lot of kind words and I'm grateful for the time you invested in providing this feedback.
I'd like to adress your concerns:
- 🤔 Having no cancel button while an upload is in progress: Duly noted. We will implement this.
- ✅ When no translation is chosen, how to launch a translation later? You can definitely do this. Just go to the last tab: "4. Translation" and you can add any language at any time to an existing video. (this feature is part of Tiers 2 and 3)
- 🤔 The first sentence/words missing: We'll investigate and fix this ASAP!
You also asked for clarification about the credits.
Hosting is charged a token amount : Only 1 credit per hour (not minute) of video that OneTake hosts for you, per month.
So if you had uploaded an entire online course and used OneTake Player to host and embed the videos on your site, you could have hundreds of hours of videos hosted on OneTake.
If you just upload, edit videos, and download them (for use on Social media) and don't use OneTake Player to host and stream your videos, then you can delete them as you go and never be charged for hosting.
As you mentioned, on the higher tiers you can upload, have the AI edit, transcode and stream your videos for several hours of additional video (250 minutes is 4+ hours) every month. For most people's uses this is a pretty big amount of use (1 hour of video *a week* would represent a ton of editing work if you did that manually, not even counting the translation feature etc).
However if you've got a different use case I'd love to hear it so we can try and figure out another AppSumo Tier that adresses it better!
